Urgent Notice: Crawley Explorer Scouts – Volunteers Required

As you know, Explorer Units are run by volunteer leaders. Unfortunately, we currently have a shortage of volunteer leaders in some of the units and if we are unable to resolve this in the near future, we regret we may have to make the decision to close these units temporarily. If this was to occur, we don’t at present have enough space in other units to accommodate these members. This would mean we would be unable to continue Scouting for some of our current members.

We are therefore appealing to you to consider volunteering with one of our units so we can continue to operate all four Explorer Scout Units. Alternatively, if you have any friends or family who you think may be interested, please let them have the following information and suggest they get in touch for more information.  You do not need to help at your young person’s unit if you do not wish to, you could volunteer at one of the other three.

We have attached some further information below, however, please do get in touch with us to discuss how you can support this request.

Who are Explorer Scouts?

Explorer Scouts are vibrant individuals aged 14 to 18, bubbling with energy and a thirst for exploration. Their program revolves around the pillars of fun, life skills, and thrilling adventures. As an Explorer Scout leader, you’ll be an essential part of shaping these young minds, helping them discover their potential, and nurturing their personal growth.

Unleash Your Potential: Leader’s Role

Imagine gaining new skills, forming lasting connections, and having a blast, all while working alongside enthusiastic young minds and fellow adult leaders. Our leadership team finds fulfilment in creating memorable experiences for our Explorer Scouts. You’ll be a guide, a mentor, and a friend, inspiring young individuals to challenge themselves, discover the world, and develop into responsible and confident adults.

Flexibility that Fits Your Life

We understand that your commitments are diverse, and that’s why we offer flexible volunteering options. Whether you’re a working professional, or anyone with a passion for making a difference, we have a level of involvement that suits your schedule. You decide how you’d like to contribute, ensuring that your journey with us is both enriching and accommodating.

Safety First: Training and Screening

The safety and wellbeing of our young members are paramount. To ensure this, we take safeguarding seriously. As a potential Explorer Scout leader, you’ll undergo necessary free training and a background check (DBS). This step ensures a secure and supportive environment for both leaders and Scouts, fostering a space where growth and adventure can flourish.

Scouting is Inclusive

At Crawley Explorer Scouts, inclusivity is a core value. We welcome everyone, regardless of background, to be a part of our Scouting family. If you’re eager to contribute, learn, and create lasting memories, we encourage you to take the leap and join us.
