Crawley Explorer Leaders – Winter Mountaineering Training

Through February, a number of our Explorer Leaders (who are part of the County Climbing Team) have ventured to Scotland to practise their winter Mountain Leader skills with one of our Leaders undergoing assessment for their Winter Walking Permit (Well done Tim Winter @ Shackleton Explorers).

Although the conditions were less than ideal on both trips, we were still able to get out and enjoy some quality mountain walking and climbing to ensure our skills are kept current for when we take Scout Groups out on our yearly mountain activity camps (in less extreme weather!).

Some pictures of the trips are below. If you are interested in joining our Leadership Team for Explorers and having the opportunity to partake in similar activities, we currently have vacancies in a number of our units so please do get in touch!
