On Sunday 15th April, Crawley District Scouts Youth Commissioners ran the first District Youshape event at Stanford Scout Campsite. Over the course of the day, we had just under 50 participants from across Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. It was a shame about the weather but everyone had fun regardless! During the day, the participants got to try a number of activities including Archery, Rifle Shooting, Backwoods Cooking, Fire Lighting, Team Games and a Youth Forum.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from 5th Crawley braved the chilly conditions today to take part in a Group hike, starting in Maidenbower and hiking to and from their headquarters in Three Bridges. Hot chocolate, teas and coffees and plenty of cake refuelled everyone at the half-way point, and all those who took part received a special badge, which was designed by section members to celebrate the Group’s anniversary in 2018 and can be worn on uniforms for the year. This was the first of three celebration events planned for 2018; in June the Group will be running a Group Camp at Stanford Scout Campsite in Pease Pottage and in September there will be a celebration family fun day at the Gatwick Aviation Museum.
Crawley District Scouts will be holding a District YouShape Activity Day on Sunday 15th April at Stanford Scout Campsite. The day will be split into two sessions as below: Cubs and Scouts (8-12 years old) – 9.00am to 1.00pm / Older Scouts and Explorers (13-18 years old) – 1.30pm to 5.30pm. Please drop-off/pick-up the participants from the main building at the campsite promptly at the times listed above. Please also respect our neighbours and DO NOT drive down the lane (Parents and members should walk down the lane to the campsite). During the event, the youth members will take part in a number of activities including archery, rifle shooting and team building games. It will also be an opportunity for those who attend to voice their thoughts on their weekly programme and district events which will be used to help us shape activities going forward.
Congratulations to all youth members who were presented their Chief Scouts Awards during the awards ceremony in March 2018. The Chief Scout’s Bronze Award is the highest award available to Beaver Scouts. 6th Crawley Beaver Colony recently put on their skates and made good use of the Queens Square Ice Rink. A great time was had by youngsters and adults alike.
On Saturday 6th January, 4th Worth hosted the annual Crawley District Wappenshaw Competition where local shooters took part in 6 yrd pistol, rifle, prone rifle, biathlon, field target, and archery.
