1st Northgate Cubs have recently returned from their summer camp. One of the Cubs has submitted the below camp write up sharing all the fun they got up too!
Day One
Mummy and daddy dropped me off and we put our stuff in the place we needed and our camp chairs and Akela explained the rules. Then we looked at the forest boundaries and I found a branch pusher stick. After that we did activities to earn points for prizes and we got partners me and my partner made a forest salad. Soon after I tried to make a hammer then a stick launcher but after I just decided to make a guitar out of rubber bands and sticks. I got 75 points. Then we did a water fight in the woods and 5 minutes near the end my flipflop got stuck to my leg so the leaders got my flipflop off with washing up liquid. Some of us played in the woods and we had dinner and then a campfire with melted marshmallows. Some of the beaver scouts had their birthday and we all hit a pinata then we got to choose three sweets and eat them. After we went to bed but at 10pm I realised I didn’t brush my teeth so I did that and went to bed.
Day Two
Today when most of us woke up it was early when we woke up it was 5am and we went to the fire circle to read.
Later we had chocolate rice and English breakfast for breakfast and we had tent inspection soon after and then we had to put up a tent while the Beavers had fun but after they had to tidy up after we wrote what we are grateful for. Then we went to the scout remembering place after we all had cake then we refilled our bottles and hiked to Buchan park and we had ice lollies and played in the playground we also went to the dog dip pond and played fetch with poppy and on the way back we went through a field with blackberries, a dirt path with trees, a thin dirt path with nettles, private land and a dirt road with fences. On the way back we picked blackberries then we had hot dogs and pancakes they were yummy. After the beavers left and we had a paddle pool and we played then we had dinner wraps I think after we packed for Butlins and we sat at the fire after that I brushed my teeth and went to sleep also everyone else did.
Day Three
Today we woke up had cereal and English breakfast for breakfast after we brushed our teeth and then waited for the other cub and beaver to arrive then we went to Butlins after we had to go through a park. When we arrived at the arcade we put our stuff somewhere and then we used the toilet. After we went to the rides but they were closed so we went and had lunch then we went to the rides and we went on a giant spinning wheel. It was scary but fun after we went to the high swings, I didn’t go on it. After that we went swimming there was a slide that was skinny and a slide that was wide and there was a helter-skelter and the rapids which was a fast lazy river with whirlpools and slides after we went to the fun arcade on the way back we had Mcdonlds and it was 10 pm when we got back then we brushed our teeth and went to bed.
Day 4
We woke up and had our usual camp breakfast then we just played in the woods for a bit. After we made sandwiches and a leader cooked them then we played manhunt in the woods. After they handed out rewards and we went home. I had an amazing time!
