Drake Explorer Scouts and Crawley Scout Network return from the Lake District

A party of 21 Explorer Scouts, Network and Leaders spent 10 days in August in the Lake District based on the Scout campsite on the East side of Lake Windermere. The weather started cold and wet but got better the longer we were there. During the period eight Explorer Scouts successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award expedition, which required four days and three nights hiking and camping in wild country. All they have to do now is to report back to complete this part of the award. During the period in the Lake District we canoed and sailed on Lake Windermere, went rock climbing, hill walking including Skiddor and the Network members climbed Scafell Pike. We did scrambling up waterfalls and visited Gretna Green in Scotland and Morecombe on the coast. On the whole an action packed ten days.
