5th Crawley – Open House

Making a difference and helping other people is such an important part of being a Cub Scout. The Community Impact Badge gives Cubs a chance to make a difference to a project in the local community. The 5th Crawley Cub pack decided to help Crawley Open House who provide support for those suffering the effects of Homelessness, Unemployment, Loneliness, Discrimination, or other forms of Social Exclusion.

The Cubs heard all about the work that the Open House do in the local community when Ian Wilkins, the Fundraising and Relationships Manager, visited the cub pack back in the Autumn of 2019. They decorated festive shoe boxes and spent the next 3 months collecting a selection of useful and practical things to donate. They also used their artistic skills to make handmade Christmas cards. At the Cubs ‘End of Term Christmas party’, Ian returned to visit, and the Cubs handed over the boxes to be distributed to Open House clients over the Christmas period.
