Russell Stallibrass: A Well-Deserved Award for Merit

Crawley District Scouts are thrilled to announce that Russell Stallibrass has been awarded the prestigious Award for Merit in recognition of his unwavering dedication and exceptional service to Scouting within the district. His impact has been felt far and wide, particularly in the success of the Neil Armstrong Explorer Scout Unit (ESU).

Russell’s commitment to Scouting within Crawley District continues to be highly consistent, and he has given service of a very high standard. Neil Armstrong ESU has gone from strength to strength under Russell’s leadership. In 2020, the unit was on brink of closure with only 4 members, fast forward to today and there are 24 members with steady growth to 30 plus over the next year. Russell has reinvented the explorer programme to make the unit attractive to explorers, ensured a diverse range of activities and camps are delivered and relaunched schemes such as D of E. Ultimately the success is down to the continuous hard work Russell has put into the running of the Unit. Russell has also continued to develop his skills so he can deliver a positive and engaging programme – he has recently completed his YPS Air Rifle Qualification as well as progressing towards his artificial climbing permit. All in all, Russell is a fountain of knowledge regarding all Scouting matters, particularly within the Explorer Units. Russell has given service of a high standard and in recognition of his especially distinguished service, I would like to nominate him for an adult award.

Crawley District Scouts is incredibly proud to have Russell as part of our team. His efforts have not only helped grow the Neil Armstrong ESU but have also had a lasting and positive impact on Scouting throughout the district. We congratulate Russell on receiving this well-deserved recognition and thank him for his ongoing service and dedication.
