Brownsea Island – June 2024

Over the 8th and 9th June, 8 members of Crawley Network (plus a guest from South London Network!) made the trip over to Brownsea Island to explore the birthplace of Scouting. The weekend started with the ferry trip over and then pitching on the original site where the first ever Scout camp took place before wandering around the island. Wildlife such as wild rabbits, red squirrel, and a variety of flora and fauna were in full flourish, and with the sun beating down, it was set to be a great trip. In the evening they enjoyed dessert on the beach as the tide went out and the sun set over the harbour
In the morning, a number of the group went for a swim off the South Shore before enjoying a lunch in the sun, visiting the Trading Post to collect souvenirs and postcards, before venturing home in the early afternoon on the Sunday. The camp was a success and we look forward to planning more Network camps in the near future.
