Last week, a few Crawley District shooters travelled out to The Hague in the Netherlands as part of the British Shooting Pathway for the 44th Intershoot Competition. Max Moore, 23; Harley Raine, 23; and Courtney Palmer-Jones, 21, all started shooting through 4th Worth shooting group, in time moving onto the National Scout Squad, and eventually onto the British Shooting Pathway.
At Intershoot, Harley Raine was met with great success after qualifying for the final in 6th place and finishing in 1st place ahead of 2-time Olympian and ex-World number 1, Apurvi Chandela from India, taking home the gold medal. Harley’s skill continued on the second day, qualifying for the final in 1st place, with a world class score of 627.7, finishing in 3rd place during the final, bringing home the bronze medal. On the last day, Harley qualified for the final in joint 2nd place, ultimately finishing with a very closely contested 4th place in the final.
Similarly, Max Moore qualified for the final in 2 of the 3 matches, qualifying in 6th on the second day, and 7th on the last day. In his first final, Max finished 8th but then fought hard on the last day against a German athlete for a closely contested 4th place. For Courtney Palmer-Jones, this was her very first international match and scored similar to her domestic UK match scores, sitting around middle of the scoreboard, with a lot of promise for great future success.
If you or your young person involved in scouting are interested in getting involved with shooting, including rifle and/or pistol, either as a complete beginner or if you’ve had a go with your group, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are always looking to grow the shooting sport within the Crawley District (10.5yrs+ only). Please contact: [email protected]
