1st Southgate Scout Group held their annual Cub and Scout Camp last weekend at Stanford. We camped 24 Cubs (Pack has 24) and 18 Scouts (Troop has 20), with the amazing support of 15 Leaders from our Colony, Pack, Troop, SRF Unit and YLs. I am so proud of this team!
For the second year running the Leader-in-Charge on camp was a new Leader aiming to achieve a N.A.P. = new ideas all the way. We invited Wendy, Eddy and Denise to join us for a Sunday Roast Chicken dinner followed by a ‘build your own’ trifle.
The main hut was booked for ‘wet weather accommodation’ but was not needed, all activities and meals took place outside – Stanford proved to be an excellent venue for this Activity camp.
Our biggest thanks goes to the District Skills Instructors who provided archery = Pauline Maddocks and Gemma Hobbs; air rifle shooting = Sean Edwards, Bob and Karen Hemmings, Ron and Sara Woolard; bushcraft and fires = Liam Gadd; Monkey bridge building = Clive Ayton QM, Barney Woolard and Brendan Hall. Barney Woolard supported by Brendan Hall ran one of the best campfires sessions with a huge magic fire, Scouts Own and Dobbie’s Doughnuts.
One fantastic weekend. Chris/Chil
