Many thanks to Ian Head for arranging – again – for Crawley District Cub leaders to gather and celebrate another successful year in Scouting.  We may well need a bigger venue next year as this is becoming very popular.  17 of Crawley’s Cub Leaders, who regularly meet to plan District inclusive activities, met socially for a great Christmas dinner at Goff’s Manor.  (explanation of photo; Goff’s Manor Christmas Tree had nothing on the top, so, of course, Cub Leaders would …

On Saturday 2nd December, Crawley District Scouts held a Beaver Craft and Fun Day. We had over 80 children attend throughout the day making, Reindeer’s, Christmas decorations and gifts to take home. We even had Father Christmas drop in to see them all and give out some presents. A big thank you to all the leaders, young leaders and family members that helped to make the day a success.

The Co-op Local Community Fund is an initiative which aims to give back to the local members and their communities – giving money to local causes that their members care about. As part of this two, local Scout Groups were presented with grants on Saturday 25th November to help improve Scouting in Crawley.
2nd Ifield Scout Group received £2,800 to replace their aging fleet of Kayaks and allow more members to partake in their BCU assessments going forward.

On Remembrance Sunday (12th November) the residents of Ifield, the congregation of St Margaret’s Church and 2nd Ifield (St Margaret’s) Scout Group gathered around the war memorial in Ifield churchyard for two minutes silence and wreath laying. The ceremony, with the last post and reveille, included prayers, remembering those who had died in wars and for peace.

Louise Baker has been appointed ADC Beavers with Helen stepping down Lou has taken this role and has started visiting colonies and coming up with exciting opportunities to support leaders within the District.
