Medal of Merit Awarded

John Yarlett was presented the Award of Merit on Saturday 24th June for his outstanding contribution to Scouting both in Crawley and Horsham. He has previously been a District Commissioner and was instrumental in restarting 1st Crawley Scout Group with all 3 sections 6 years ago and has successfully recruited and retained both youth members and leaders. The Group has grown under his management and is very successful.

He recently stepped down as their Group Scout Leader but will still stay connected with the Group and continue to support Scouting within Crawley District. This award is usually presented by a County representative but unfortunately nobody was available so the District was allowed to present it. Eddy Hills stepped down as DC on 20th May but as he had recommended John for the Award and John had worked closely with Eddy I felt it was better he present the Award rather than myself as incoming DC.

Many congratulations to him for this well deserved award.
