Would you like to be a leader at Roverway 2018 or the 24th World Scout Jamboree?

International Scout Jamborees and Moots are above all educational events that brings together the world’s young people to promote peace and mutual understanding and to develop leadership and life skills. Working with Scouts in the run up and at the event is one of the most rewarding experiences any leader can have.

West Sussex Scouts are about to start preparations for two exciting opportunities of a lifetime.

Roverway 2018

From 23rd July to 2nd August 2018, Roverway 2018 will take place in the Netherlands with over 3,000 participants (aged 16 – 22) from over twenty countries taking part in an incredible European adventure. The participants will be divided into UK Patrols of 6-8 ahead of the event.  They will be encouraged to meet regularly, take part in practice camps and gain camping skills in addition to a Nights Away permit for Patrol Leaders.
West Sussex Scouts are looking for at least 1 adult leader to facilitate the trip of a lifetime for a group of 6 to 8 Scouts aged 16 to 22.

24th World Scout Jamboree

The last Jamboree took place in Japan 2015, and saw 35,000 Scouts from all over the World join together. The next Jamboree will be taking place at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, USA in 2019. For the first time, it will be jointly hosted by three countries: Canada, Mexico and the USA. Dates to include 22nd July 2019 to 2nd August 2019 and sometime either side for pre and post Jamboree events. The 24th World Scout Jamboree will feature the hallmarks of past world jamboree programs, such as the Global Development Village, the World Scout Centre, a special sustainability initiative, and the socialization elements that allow participants to make lifelong friends from around the world.

Unlike any other youth event, the World Scout Jamboree invites you to surround yourself in diverse global cultures by joining your new Scouting friends at a single destination for 12 unforgettable days. The jamboree experience extends beyond your home—and beyond the boundaries of our countries—to create a global adventure that will last a lifetime!

West Sussex are looking for at least 7 adult leaders to deliver the trip of a lifetime for 63 Scouts from West Sussex, aged 14 to 17 to the 24th World Scout Jamboree. To give you some more idea what will be expected of you a Unit Leadership Team Role Description has been produced.
