District Activity Day / Stanford Chapel Opening

On Saturday 2nd July, over 80 people attended the District Activity Day where they were able to partake in activities such as Rifle Shooting, Archery, Bouncy Castles, Crafts, Fire Lighting, Tug of War and Bouldering. We were very lucky with the weather throughout the day as the sun shone brightly with only a few brief showers.

After the activities had concluded for the day, everyone ventured down to the recently renovated chapel for its grand opening which has been a culmination of hard work by a number of people and groups over the past year. As the pictures show, the end result is a vast improvement with a new boundary fence, decked areas with special memorial benches, flattened ground with superb grass, and raised bedding areas. We would like to thank everyone who turned up on various working days and camps over the past year who helped with this project as well as Scott’s Miracle Gro, Lawsons and D.J Haulage who provided materials.

After a short service led by Jill Alderton, everyone then enjoyed a BBQ before concluding the day with a traditional campfire. Everyone had an enjoyable day and it’s hoped that all who visit the campsite going forward are able to benefit from the improved chapel facilities.
