An experienced leader to become a member of a team and contribute to the oversight of the campsite during the Covid-19 pandemic and the restarting of Face to Face Scouting.

Providing supervision of the campsite and ensuring compliance by Sections and their groups

Responsible to:  DDC – Stanford Manager and Scout Active Support Manager

Appointment requirements:

Must have successfully completed the safeguarding, safety and first aid modules

Understanding of the campsite, rules and procedures related to the restarting face to face scouting using the campsite.

Be available to operate on a rota basis to support the opening and closing of the campsite a minimum of once every two weeks between 17.45 and 21.15. Occasional support at a weekend days if required

Duties include:

  • opening campsite buildings as required. The toilets will be allocated on a site by site basis to Sections/groups. Ensuring that section leaders maintain the toilet hygiene during their visit
  • checking each area is clean and functions with easy access to cleaning materials for leaders to use. Where necessary rectifying any problems before the area is released for use
  • act as a the nominated District person for each section leader to report their attendance and designated leaders for toilets. (Monitoring of numbers) Point of contact in the event of incidents that need to be reported. Report any such incidents to line manager who follow up with GSL or other District persons as required
  • keeping congestion points clear and ensure social distance measures are kept at these points- entrance (car park) and exits from site (Cuckmere gate)
  • ensuring there are no unauthorised persons on site, when necessary asking them to leave
  • ensuring that sections/groups depart on time under the supervision of leaders
  • ensuring that all toilet areas are cleaned properly throughout and at the end of sessions, conducting a final clean down of facilities and floors at the end of the session
  • all building are properly secured at the end of the session, ensuring site water is turned off


  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently as necessary
  • Good communication skills with campsite visitors, parents and members of the public as necessary
  • Able to solve problems, to handle and resolve conflict tactfully and effectively
