Crawley Beavers – International Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day, is observed every year since February 2000 and made official by UNESCO. This is to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

As part of the Crawley Beaver Scouts community involvement, the communication staff at Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust invited the Beaver Scouts to distribute a poster, on which the word “Welcome” is written in several languages, to the various wards and departments at Crawley hospital on Friday, February 21, 2020.

Similar to Scouting, the Hospital Trust has over 140 different ethnicities on its workforce, all working as a team, promoting and providing care for patients’ well-being.

The Trust’s Communication Manager and Crawley Assistant District Commissioner for Beavers accompanied the youngsters who received a warm “welcome” by all staff, despite their busy schedule, on a windy, cold rainy day on the outside.
